I was sent some info from the Financial Markets Authority and noticed that this organisation now has its Maori name, being Te Mana Tatai Hokohoko. which roughly translates to The Authority Measure Trade. I wouldn’t quote me on that though

With the Maori language becoming more common with the names of government departments etc, it got me wondering if COVID-19 had its translation yet.

Obviously it is now a household word and one spoken and heard multiple times per day.

It is something so prevalent I though surely there is a translation.

Virus is Huaketo

Sick is Mauiui

Infection is Pokenga

Contagious is Mate rere

Corona __________ nothing

COVID ___________ nothing

any suggestions?

Ill start off

COVID Te tapeke Kakai translation
