First Alberta, Canada and now Iceland!

“The epidemiologist [i.e. the lead epidemiologist in Iceland] believes that it is now necessary to try to achieve herd immunity to the corona virus by letting it continue, but to try to prevent serious illness by protecting vulnerable groups. He says the goal at this point cannot be to eradicate the virus from society.”

Slowly slowly, bit by bit, all around the world, a painful truth is emerging, the Virus gonna virus!

Everywhere you look we’re seeing a failure of the ‘zero covid’ strategy, we’re seeing countries with high vaccination rates going back into lockdowns as the vaccine has limited effectiveness against claimed new variants of the virus, and we’re slowly beginning to see more countries acknowledge the obvious:

1. Covid is another virus, it’s going to spread despite our best wishes and intentions.

2. Safe and successful vaccines against Coronavirus’s have never been achieved before, and the ones we have now are very much unproven and much about them is unknown. I HOPE they prove to be an amazing, safe, and effective vaccine technology going forward, but as things stand at the moment it’s too early to know, and they’re certainly not offering any sort of broad protection given how only minor mutations are causing the effectiveness to drop massively.

3. Shutdowns only delayed the inevitable, didn’t stop it. Or to put it the way I put it in March 2020, locking down doesn’t get us THROUGH the pandemic, but rather keeps us IN the pandemic.Lessons are being learned, however slowly.Iceland was a poster-child for vaccine success… WAS. Now they acknowledge that their apparent success was a short lived mirage, and they’re going back to what they should have done in the first place.
